The Art Center is now accepting registration for Fall 2010. Check out our exciting new classes in Photography, Cartooning, Fashion and Ceramics.
Photography: For the first time The Art Center is offering Photography. The class is designed to allow students to have a dynamic experience of photography. The lessons are designed to build the child's visual understanding by concentrating on four units of study; abstract, still life, portraiture, and photo journalism. The students will be learning Photoshop, iPhoto, studio lighting, and history of photography as we explore each unit. Each student will culminate their work by creating a portfolio. The class is taught by professional photographer Andrew Levine. Class requirements: A laptop with Photoshop, digital camera, memory stick, and the cord to download the images. One parent is allowed to accompany their child for free. For ages 8 and up. Photography meets Mondays from 6:00 - 8:00 PM for 16 sessions and a total of $705.
Cartooning: Does your child love reading comic books? Then they'll love learning to draw their favorite characters in our Manga Cartooning class. Our instructor David Klein is an award winning illustrator whose work appears in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and other publications. His work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, Society of Newspaper Designers, and Society of Publication Designers. He previously illustrated for both DC and Marvel Comics. Manga Cartooning starts Tuesday September 21st and runs for 17 sessions for a total of $745.
Fashion: Our Fashion Design class allows students to explore the wonderful, magical world of fashion design. An emphasis is placed on drawing the fashion figure, design elements, and design inspirations. Students will create a collection of fashion design sketches based on weekly themes. The class is taught by Vincene Collura, a graduate of FIT. Vincene is a fashion designer, illustrator, and image consultant expert with over 25 years domestic experience in the fashion/retail industry. Her designs sold in Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales. Vincene provides students with the tools they need for visual design, creative thinking, and professional exploration in fashion. For ages 8 and up. Fashion Design meets on Mondays and runs for 16 sessions for a total of $705.
Ceramics: Our Ceramics class offers an opportunity to enjoy creative time with your child as we create realistic, imaginary, and utilitarian objects out of clay. Ceramics meets on Sundays from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM for 13 sessions.
