Rachel created a brilliant stained glass painting in our Wednesday Teen class this semester. Using meticulous brushstrokes, brightly colored tempera and black India ink, Rachel beautifully painted the luminous qualities of a stained glass window onto paper.
We’re proud to announce that Lillie, a student in our Tuesday afternoon Kindergarten class, was featured on the CBS Morning Show! Lillie’s sensational watercolor painting of the sun was chosen for a special Sunday feature!
Today we feature another Post-Impressionist inspired painting from one of our super talented third graders. Nicole, a student in our Monday afternoon Mixed-Age class, found colorful inspiration in Henri Matisse’s “Portrait of André Derain”.
Zoey, a talented third grader in our Thursday afternoon Mixed-Age class, painted this lively acrylic portrait of Henri Matisse’s “The Blue Eyes”. Our third graders had a fabulous time learning about Modern art this semester!
Alison, a fourth-grader in our Saturday morning Mixed-Age class, painted this vibrant landscape of Claude Monet’s “Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies”. Despite painting indoors, Alison still beautifully captured the springtime splendor of an Impressionist landscape “en plein air”.
Featured this week, is David’s skillfully rendered portrait drawing from our Wednesday evening Teen Portfolio Workshop!
We say goodbye to Sarah, office manager at The Art Center since August 2012, and say hello to Allison, our new office manager and blog writer. We are so excited to have Allison on board, and we wish Sarah the best of luck in her future endeavors!
Jennifer made this wonderfully detailed drawing of Vincent van Gogh’s “A Pair of Leather Clogs” in our Mixed-Age class! Van Gogh painted this pair of leather clogs in 1888 while working at his Yellow House studio in Arles, France. Using a palette knife technique to create intricate depth and texture in his painting, Van Gogh brought about an exciting new approach to still lifes. Like Van Gogh, Jennifer has done a really fantastic job of bringing these shoes to life!
Viviana painted this beautifully detailed study of a Manga girl in our Thursday Mixed-Age class. Don’t forget that we have a specialty class dedicated to Manga & Cartooning, on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.!
Sara painted this yummy-looking cupcake in our Monday Mixed-Age class. Dessert studies have been a common theme in our classes recently, and everyone has done such a fantastic job!
